Katie Marlow
Katie Marlow's comes to the World Salsa Summit with over 40 years experience as a professional in the Entertainment industry. In addition, she brings with her more than 35 years experience as a Travel and Special Event professional.
Involved in dance and the performing arts since the age of 7, Katie has an extensive resume in both theatrical dance and partner dance. Her wide array of credits includes Theatre, Television, Print and Live Performance. She is a member of both Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association. She has worked extensively in the industry as both a performer and a producer of entertainment.
In addition to Katie’s experience in the entertainment industry, she has also been involved in various aspects of the Special Event Production and travel industries for over 35 years. She is a long standing member of Meeting Professionals International, and even served on its South Florida Chapter board of directors for a time.
As a competitive dancers, Katie Marlow was 1/2 of the world renowned dance team “Billy and Katie” During the course of their partnership, they amassed numerous titles and recognition awards. Just a few of their titles include: IDO World Cabaret Exhibition Champions, IDO World Disco-Hustle Champions, US Open Cabaret Champions and many more.... They were also 4-time invitees to the Blackpool Dance Festival for Cabaret Exhibition, which is reserved for only 6-7 couples worldwide each year.
Katie was instrumental in the development of the expanding competitive Salsa dance circuit; and was responsible for creating the Rules, Regulations and Judging System for the original World Salsa Championships that were aired on ESPN. Based on a system she created in 2001, it was modified to accommodate the Salsa Dance world and utilized for the ESPN World Salsa Championship in 2005. This system has become the standard by which the majority of Salsa competitions are judged around the world today.
Katie was also a co-founder of the IHDA, which became the governing organization for Latin Hustle.
In regards to Special Event production, Katie was the owner of Dancesation! Productions, which she incorporated in 1995. Dancesation produced customized entertainment and events for Fortune 500 companies for more than 20 years. Performances for Dancesation Productions included such well known companies as General Mills, Elizabeth Arden, Trump International, Crystal Cruises, ATT, Home Depot, Siemens Westinghouse, Honeywell, Clinique, Deloitte and Touche, Hewlett Packard, the Superbowl, and the list goes on and on…..
In addition to the World Salsa Summit, Katie produced the International Hustle & Salsa Competition. The World Salsa Summit was modeled after the IHSC, which was a unique legacy event within the social dance industry. The IHSC completed its 20th Year Anniversary in 2019.
Katie looks forward to taking the current World Salsa Summit, now at its 10th Anniversary, to the next level. And by the way — if you see her, save her a dance, as it continues to remain her greatest passion!
